Robert Y. Weller II is a Shareholder in our firm, a member of our Board of Directors, and co-chairs our Auto Dealer Practice Group. Bob has been engaged in the private practice of law for over twenty-eight years. He concentrates on commercial litigation and business counseling, with an emphasis on automobile dealer law. He is well experienced in representation of franchised automobile dealers, dealer trade associations, dealer related litigation, regulatory agency practice on behalf of dealers, and legislative activities involving dealers and dealer associations. Bob is lead counsel for the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, the North American International Auto Show, and the Metro Detroit Cadillac Dealers Association. Bob counsels automobile dealers and defends their interests in administrative proceedings and litigation. In 2003 Bob successfully argued before a complex case panel in the Michigan Court of Appeals in the case of Estella King et al. v. Ford Motor Credit Company, et al., 257 Mich App 303 (2003.) This complex class action lawsuit involved the interpretation of the Motor Vehicle Sales Finance Act with respect to profit on the sale of extended service contracts or extended warranties. In a published opinion, the Court of Appeals summarily reversed the trial court and granted summary disposition in favor of the defendants. Bob was nominated by all other defense counsel involved in the case to conduct the oral argument before the Michigan Court of Appeals.

Bob is registered in Michigan as a lobbyist agent representing business enterprises, including automobile dealers, on legislation which effects them. Mr. Weller resides in Oakland County.

Bob holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded attorneys by their peers. He was honored as a Michigan Super Lawyer 2008 and 2009 in the franchise/dealership category. Bob, along with firm attorneys John Youngblood and Michael Weikert, were the only attorneys in the state recognized in the franchise/dealership category in the 2008 Michigan Super Lawyer rankings. In 2009, Bob was also recognized as a Top Lawyer in Metro Detroit – 2010 by DBusiness Magazine.
