John F. Youngblood has been with Abbott, Nicholson, Quilter, Esshaki & Youngblood, P.C. since 1979, after six years as a partner in the law firm of Cox and Youngblood.  John is the Leader of the Auto Dealership Section and a member of the Corporate and Labor Sections.  John lives in the Metropolitan Detroit area, is married and has three grown daughters, one of whom is an attorney in Cleveland.  His primary practice areas include automotive franchises, the laws and regulations governing the operation of vehicle dealerships, and employment law.  John received both his B.S. in 1969 and his law degree (J.D.) in 1972 from Wayne State University.

From 1993-1996, John was a member of the Board of Directors of Commercial Law Affiliates, a prestigious international affiliation of law firms now known as Meritas.  John serves as general counsel to several regional automobile dealer advertising associations and frequently gives presentations to industry groups and other professionals on various topics, including laws affecting the retail automobile industry.  He was twice elected to serve on the City Council for the City of Grosse Pointe and has served on the Board of Directors of a number of charitable and civic organizations.

John holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded attorneys by their peers. He was honored as a Michigan Super Lawyer 2008 in the franchise/dealership category. John, along with firm attorneys Robert Weller and Michael Weikert, were the only attorneys in the state recognized in the franchise/dealership category in the 2008 Michigan Super Lawyer rankings. In 2009, John was also recognized as a Michigan Super Lawyer, as well as a Top Lawyer in Metro Detroit – 2010 by DBusiness Magazine.
