Heidi E. Warren is an associate attorney and practices primarily in the firm’s Defense and Export Controls Legal Group, Litigation Group and Immigration group.

In Abbott Nicholson’s Defense and Export Controls Legal Group, Heidi provides specialized legal representation and counsel to U.S. and international businesses engaged in military defense contracting and procurement.  In this capacity, Heidi represents and counsels businesses on compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and the Export Administration Regulations ("EAR"), and provides assistance with the following:. 

• Registration of businesses with the U.S. Department of State
• Process assessments and audits
• Establishment of an export compliance program
• Application for export licenses and other government authorizations (i.e. TAA, MLA)
• Commodity Jurisdiction Requests
• Employment of foreign nationals in the U.S. and abroad
• Training
• Investigations
• Voluntary disclosures

Heidi has broad experience in export matters derived from her experience servicing international accounts while working for international shipping and logistics companies.

In Abbott Nicholson's Litigation Group, Heidi represents individuals and businesses in all facets of dispute resolution at the state and federal court level.  Heidi has litigated cases involving a broad range of general business issues including breach of contract, employment discrimination and wrongful discharge, and landlord-tenant disputes.

In Abbott Nicholson’s Immigration Group, Heidi represents businesses and individuals with assistance in employment and family-based immigration matters (i.e. application for naturalization, permanent residency, TN and H1B).

Heidi also supports the firm’s auto dealer and corporate sections.

Heidi is admitted to the practice of law in the State of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Heidi is an active member of the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, Oakland County Bar Association, the Michigan Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association, and Michigan chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Heidi received her undergraduate degree from Saint Louis University (B. A., 1997) and her law degree from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (J. D., 2006). While attending University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Heidi was a Senior Member and Associate Editor of the school’s Law Review. Also during law school, Heidi gained experience by working as an extern for the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, an intern law clerk for the Honorable Michael Warren of Oakland County Circuit Court, and by working for the firm as a part-time law clerk.
